Classes
& Seminars At BRIFT FUNDAMENTALS OF ACTING FOR ADULTS, IMPROV PLUS, and IMPROV FOR YOUNG ACTORS run on an ongoing, weekly basis. ACTING FOR THE CAMERA WITH BURT REYNOLDS Open auditions for Acting For The Camera class are planned for Wednesday, February 8th, and Thursday, February 9th from 6PM to 9PM at the Flagler Center in Stuart, Florida. The Flagler Center is a division of the Lyric Theatre and is located at 201 Flagler Avenue. Students must register in advance and class size is limited. A recent headshot and updated resume must be brought to the audition. If possible, actors should also submit headshots and resumes via email prior to their appointment. Auditioning actors will be required to do a cold read (scene provided) with an actor from the Burt Reynolds Institute. The new six-week course will begin on Tuesday, February 28th at 7PM. Maybe you need help staying a step ahead of the competition. No matter the reason, you will find what you’re looking for on Wednesday evenings at BRIFT. BRIFT Master Acting Class Graduate Todd Vittum brings his expertise to the classroom, teaching his students to “think quick” and increase their self-confidence. This ongoing Saturday morning class brings the same level of expertise that is offered to adults but in a manner that children can understand and embrace. A great self confidence builder, Improv For young actors will give your son/daughter a lasting edge in a competitive world. Taught by Comedian and Master Acting Class Graduate, Todd Vittum. RSVP by emailing classes@brift.org SCREENWRITING 101 (in progress) Tuesdays at 7PM; $120/six weeks or $100 if paid in full at registration. Begins January 10th and ends February 14th. Screenwriting 101 is a six week course that explores the fundamentals of screenwriting for today's films. The course will cover basic storytelling, an exploration of screenplay structure, plot development, character creation and dialogue as well as standard formatting rules. Emphasis will be placed on meeting ACT 1 requirements, pitching your story concept, and avoiding common rookie pitfalls. Taught by Frank Eberling. RSVP by emailing classes@brift.org COCONUT INK (temporarily postponed) Fridays at 10AM; $10/class, $15/couple. A six-week examination of almost sixty Florida writers since the late 1600s to the present day including biographical information, their impact on perceptions of Florida, their literary legacies, biographical filmed documentaries, and videotaped interviews produced by Frank Eberling. Taught by Frank Eberling. RSVP by emailing classes@brift.org WHAT HAS HOLLYWOOD DONE TO OUR FLORIDA STORIES? (begins 3/23) Fridays at 10AM (March 23, 30, April 13, 20); $10/class, $15/couple. A four-week look into how Hollywood has adapted stories and novels of Florida into films. The course includes clips of films and discussions on adaptation process. Taught by Frank Eberling. RSVP by emailing classes@brift.org TELEPROMPTER: A TOOL FOR ACTING & BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS (in progress; next session begins 2/27) Mondays at 7PM. $120/six weeks or $100 if paid in full at registration. Begins February 27th. This six-week course provides an opportunity to learn and grow comfortable with the use of teleprompters. Included will be host technique, cold read preparation, walk and talk, ad lib, and on the set dos and don'ts. If public speaking gives you the jitters, this class will quickly calm your nerves.
