Open Auditions For Experienced Actors; Burt Reynolds To Teach At The Lyric Theatre In Stuart
The Burt Reynolds Institute recently announced that it will hold auditions for master acting classes at the Flagler Center in Stuart, Florida. The Flagler Center is a division of the Lyric Theatre and is located at 201 Flagler Avenue.
Hollywood icon Burt Reynolds will helm this “Acting For The Camera” course, which mirrors the popular Master Class he presently teaches at the Burt Reynolds Institute in Jupiter. The new six-week course will begin on Tuesday, February 28th at 7PM. When asked why he was bringing his expertise to the Treasure Coast, Reynolds said, “Many of my students travel great distances to attend class. There are so many talented actors north of the Palm Beach County line. I wanted to give them the same advantage as south Florida actors. Plus, I’ve always loved Stuart. It’s a great little city with a big appreciation for the arts.”
Actors from Mr. Reynolds Master Class are considered to be among the most professional with casting directors in the area. Many of Reynolds students have booked roles on popular shows such as Burn Notice, The Glades, Necessary Roughness, and Magic City.
Auditions are planned for Wednesday, February 8th, and Thursday, February 9th from 6PM to 9PM. Students must register in advance and class size is limited. A recent headshot and updated resume must be brought to the audition. If possible, actors should also submit headshots and resumes via email prior to their appointment. Auditioning actors will be required to do a cold read (scene provided) with an actor from the Burt Reynolds Institute.
At the conclusion of the course, students will have an opportunity to perform in a showcase before family and friends. These Showcases are popular events at The Burt Reynolds Institute and have recently been performed at The Lyric Theatre to the enjoyment of a packed house.

The Search Is On! Alumni Weekend Planned For Spring 2012
Kelly Dennehy, Executive Director of the Burt Reynolds Institute for
Film & Theatre (BRIFT), announced tentative plans for an alumni reunion
weekend in the Spring of 2012. To that end, she is asking that all graduates
of both the Burt Reynolds Institute for Theatre Training (BRITT) and
the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre (BRIFT) email Finance
Director, Donna Carbone, with their contact information at briftfinancedirector@comcast.net.
Dennehy requests that all graduates include their full name, address,
telephone number and graduation year in their email. Tentative plans
include a welcome cocktail party at the Burt Reynolds Museum on Friday
evening, a dinner dance on Saturday evening and a farewell breakfast
on Sunday morning. Free time excursions for Saturday morning and afternoon
are also in the works.
Dennehy, herself a graduate of BRIFT, commented on the lifelong dedication
of mega star Burt Reynolds' students and her hope to bring them all
together again before the Institute moves to its planned new location
in Burt Reynolds Park. In discussing the move, Dennehy mentioned how
thrilled the board and staff of BRIFT are with the recent unanimous
vote by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners to lease
an acre of land in the park for construction of a new, bigger, better
Institute and Museum. No formal date for groundbreaking has been announced.
